Marlys McKinney is from New Braunfels, Texas. She attended Southwestern University as a first-generation college student and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics. Upon graduating, she taught high school English as second language with the JET Program. She has worked with students of all ages and with the New Zealand Ministry of Education. Marlys is dedicated to first-generation and transfer student success. She is passionate about supporting students’ intersecting identities as they achieve success inside and outside of the classroom. She loves doing crossword puzzles at coffee shops, traveling without an itinerary, and binge watching TV shows while baking.
